Bandwidth issues and how to max it out?

Hi,

I've been using Jottacloud since yesterday and I have a question about the bandwidth.
I have FTTH connection with 500Mbit / 250Mbit. I have noticed that the max speed when uploading with 6 threads active tops 100Mbits. How come that when uploading on just one thread the speed is stuck at 22/25 Mbits?
If you upload many files and the last one is sizeable one then it will take forever to complete the transfer.

Maybe it's time to offer users the possibility to max out their bandwidth!

I'll add that no other software is running on my comp when uploading to the cloud.

TIA for your response and tips

  • Hi Marc,

I think a colleague of mine have told you this already, remember that ping will impact your speed. Open terminal and write "ping up.jottacloud.com" to see your ping.

We do not limit the bandwidth in any way. There will be variations in speed depending on traffic to our servers, and small files will generally be uploaded slower than bigger files. The reason for this is that small files will be finished uploading, before the speed can pick up(due to the small size).

You can try to open the Jottacloud client, and go into the "Settings" tab (and then "Bandwidth"). Set both the upload and download sliders to max. Also set maximum simultaneous uploads/downloads to "6".

  • Streaming not working from the website extremely slow dl speed (for the records UP speed to your servers is 10Mb with 6 threads, I guess DL speed should at least be as good as that, shouldn't it?)
